Instructional Coaching and Mentoring

Professional development sessions are one strategy for improving the quality of teachers and school leaders. But continued excellence requires continued effort. Foundations helps schools boost teacher quality by improving the practice of instructional coaches and those who mentor them.

The Center for Coaching at Foundations can work with your district or school to train teacher coaches and the mentors who coach them.

The Center for Coaching at Foundations promotes a professional learning environment for educators across the country by developing:

  • School-based coaches who are versed in classroom techniques and literacy strategies
  • School leaders who can promote a culture of coaching as a critical element of continuous improvement
  • Mentors to support coaches and school leaders

The Center for Coaching at Foundations uses a mix of in-person and online courses, small- and large-group networking sessions, one-on-one mentoring in the field, and study groups. To support our professional development model, the Center offers tools and training modules including videos of coaching and mentoring in action. Staff members also work as consultants on special projects, including Classrooms for the Future—infusing new technologies into the core of rigorous, improved instruction.
