Mary Yee
Associate Executive Director, Professional Development and Technical Assistance
Mary Yee directs afterschool initiatives in the areas of professional development and technical assistance. Her responsibilities include strategic planning; development and delivery of trainings; development of materials and publications; and quality assurance and evaluation.
Mary has over 30 years experience working with community-based organizations on issues of community development, housing, education, and immigrant rights. For over 12 years she worked at the School District of Philadelphia creating programs and supports for English Language Learners and ESOL teachers, monitoring compliance with federal mandates, and developing community outreach. As director for family engagement and language access, she implemented system-wide parent involvement programs and established the infrastructure for translation and interpretation services. Mary participates on the boards of the Education Law Center, the Philadelphia Folklore Project, and the Third World Coalition of the American Friends Service Committee. She received her A.B. degree from Princeton University and master’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania in City Planning and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
