As Executive Director of Community Education Initiatives at Foundations, Inc., Albert Bichner ensures the successful integration and alignment of initiatives that Foundations operates within Northwest Philadelphia.  He is responsible for overseeing operations, staff, stakeholder relationships, fundraising, and other activities related to positive student achievement outcomes for the youth of Northwest Philadelphia.

Mr. Bichner has served in public education for thirty-five years as a teacher, athletic coach, assistant principal, middle school principal, and high school principal in both urban and suburban settings.  Most recently, he served as the Deputy Chief Academic Officer for the School District of Philadelphia.  In this capacity he had administrative responsibility for Philadelphia’s eighty-two high schools and leadership responsibility for the creation of Philadelphia’s High School Blueprint, a collaborative reform initiative including: School District of Philadelphia students, staff, parents and community stakeholders.

During his career, Mr. Bichner has received several prestigious administrative awards including: Comcast’s Educational Newsmaker of the Year, the School District of Philadelphia’s Marcus Foster Award, the Philadelphia Coaches Association’s Administrator of the Year Award, and the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District’s Heritage Book Award.  As principal of Strath Haven High School, he led the school to a Presidential National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence designation.

Mr. Bichner holds a B.A. degree in History Education from LaSalle College, a Masters degree in Social Studies Education from Temple University, and a Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility from the University of Pennsylvania.
